Gisou’s Sephora Debut

On August 18th, 2020, Amsterdam-based Hair Care Brand Gisou has expanded its U.S. and Canada distribution with its debut into Sephora.

Founded by Negin Mirsalehi in 2015, Gisou is a beauty brand that offers a wide range of hair care products. The main ingredient used in the products is honey from Mirsalehi-family bee garden, which could do wonders for the hair because of the moisturizing and nourishing properties of honey.

With the Direct-to-Consumer Model, Gisou products were only available in 30 countries, mainly across Europe, which was upsetting to some of the loyal customers. Due to huge demand for the products and its worldwide popularity, Gisou was approached by Sephora to have the conversation and entertain a partnership. It was a huge move forward for a relatively small and direct-to-consumer company. And it was clearly the happiest day for both Gisou and its customers to have the brand presented in retail stores in the U.S. and Canada, the two most demanding markets.

As the COVID-19 pandemic started to evolve and stricter restrictions were imposed, products and packaging production was largely shut down. Gisou faced a huge challenge to deliver everything on time. However, despite all of the obstacles, Gisou did not disappoint its customers and managed to arrange the delivery on time.

Gisou’s complete product line is available not only at Sephora’s website but also in-store. Being a loyal customer myself, I could not wait to actually go to Sephora and purchase my favorite hair care products. This move will introduce a first-person experience to the brand for the first time in its five-year history, allowing customers to see, smell, and feel products before buying them. Moreover, mini versions of products will be also available as a part of Sephora’s “Beauty on the File”, so people can try it out and experience it, and then when they love it, they can buy the full-size.

Gisou is the brand that meets its customers’ needs and wants. It truly does its best to implement all of the customers’ wishes and recommendations. As the brand consumer, I am happy to be heard and contribute my part to the Gisou development.
